Waiting for everyone to arrive |
Last night, we had all the bishops and their wives over for dinner. After the food and tables were put away, we sat in a circle and invited the couples to share a highlight of this year for them. Each one shared an experience that involved following a prompting, receiving direction in answer to a prayer, and being an instrument in bringing someone that was forgotten, strayed, or lost from activity in the church or gospel, back into activity, and back to the fold. Tears were shed, lumps formed in the throat in the telling and the feeling in the room was as sacred as any I have experienced. To sit in the presence of these couples who have dedicated their time and energy to such service was tender and sweet and an evening I hope will remain with me and remind me to do and be better. The spirit of Christmas was in abundance and as we all knelt in prayer to conclude our evening, we knew that we had been witnesses of those rare moments when hearts are bound together in love because of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Our missionary ( dear friend) had us gather to open her present to us ....Christmas socks! We spent a fun morning with brunch, laughing and doing what we like best--being together. We miss Barb but know that she will be home soon! What a great example my friends are as they serve missions all over the place and they do come home. What a great month it has been and Christmas isn't even here yet!
I loved the "glow in the dark" sticks...Pinterest I love you! |
