Could We Please Have July Again?

This is a van that Dallin drives to the Grand Canyon and surrounding areas.  He takes Japanese tourists to places from Vegas.  I sometimes hold my breath thinking about him driving long distances with people and big vans.  I am grateful for prayer.  He will be in Vegas until school starts.
Monticello Temple on the way to New Mexico

Kim signed us up to go to Philmont in New Mexico.  It is referred to as Scouter Paradise.  Perhaps you will see why with our pictures but if not, trust me.  It is true.  Families come from all over the US to learn more about the scouting program and Duty to God.

We have been surrounded by fires this summer.  It has been spooky some days as you can't see the sun.  I was excited to get away and see clear skies.  However, going through Colorado, we came across more fires.
Durango, Colorado River
We spent the night in Durango on our way to Philmont.  We saw many people floating down the Colorado.  The river goes right through the town.  You could do white water rafting too.  It looked like a lot of fun.
This was the biggest skate park I have ever seen.  We stood and watched a lot of really good skaters!

When we arrived in Philmont, many tents had their family banners up to identify their "home" for the week.  I thought this was a really cool one.  You will have to click on the picture to read the caption.  We enjoyed becoming friends with this couple from Winatchee, Washington.
We rode for two hours...very slowly.....very slowly.
The wives of the scouters were called Silveradoes and we did activities while our husbands were in meetings.   The kids all had groups that they participated in.  On the last night I saw a group of boys that were perhaps 8-9 years old.  They had all become friends and wanted to keep up the friendships they had made.  They were making arrangements to Facebook and Skype.  I had to smile.  It was too cute.
Ropes course...it was supposed to be the Grand Canyon...don't fall!

Grist Mill in Cimmaron near Philmont

Children's Parade...they made their costumes there.

We drove home in one day and were so happy to be greeted by our Indiana family.  How we love having visits from them!  Tyler brought fireworks and we let some off.  We were very careful!
Jumping on the tramp...love the hair do.

July is quickly flying by.  Love the long days and the warm nights.  I don't get to sit and read a good book like I think you should in the summer time but it is great to work in the garden, sing to my flowers and play with my kids.  I luv vvvv summer!
