Lake Alice, Black Hawk trail, and what do you do with hard things?

Travelling on dirt road to Lake Alice on a very wet, rainy day!

How to get across...Kim would sink down into the water as they were just suspended on top of the moving water.

This is where the path used to be to go around the lake.  The path around Lake Alice was completely under water.  We had to take the mules trail.

Lake Alice with the water up past the trail.

This is where we usually pitched our tent.  The water had at some point covered the area where we camp.  It was amazing to see how much water there was!

We love Lake Alice but this year was not meant to be.  We were so wet and Kim had not brought a change of clothes since we needed to be home on Tues. night ( the next night) so we stayed long enough to soak in the peace, quiet, the wet and cold, and then we hiked back out and drove home ( a 5 hour trip on good days).  Our mini vacation continued to be disaster the next day but I will not bore you with the details.  The good part is that we were able to laugh about it, and learn some good things but don't ask me to articulate on those because I am still thinking what they are.  We talk often through the year about our Lake Alice and the get away it give us...we long to be there when the going gets tough.  It is funny how just being there for an hour reminded us of all the great times we have had and it just made us feel good to see it again.  Crazy life, crazy summer days, crazy good times ahead.
