Cake Making
My friend Karen is getting married in Dec. We went on the cruise together and had a lot of time to talk about the wedding. Karen is very cheap like me so I offered to make her wedding cake. She said I could so I have been practicing. I made a "fake" cake out of rice crispies and covered it in fondant so I could practice my piping techniques. Her colors are red, white, black and silver so I
thought that black piping looks really cool against the white fondant. Here are some pictures of my progress.
After showing her all of the different designs and what I thought would look good, she decided that she only wanted the polka dots and the same design for each layer. I was kind of bummed but it is her cake! It will be three layers. I have yet to make the bottom, the biggest, layer which will be red velvet per finace's request. She also wants the tier broken up on pillars with flowers on top of each one. Yikes. Now I need to figure out how to do flower arranging. Too bad I won't be coming home before the wedding. I am sure that either Mom or McKay could help me out in that department.
My next project is to put together my back yard. I have had stones to make a walkway and retaining wall for a long time. I finally got some paint to paint the brick, they are recycled from another wall that was painted blue and pink, and the weather is just right to be working outside. I hope that I can get it to turn out like I have envisioned it. I planted some peas and spinach and they have sprouted and are getting bigger each day.
I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving. I get to work!! I don't think I will go anywhere since I usually sleep all afternoon. That way I will save myself some calories. I look forward to seeing everyone at Christmas:)
