Those Lazy Days of Summer?

We had a Stake 5 K. Kim and I won for being the oldest runners. I had a new first as I beat Kim ...he got lost on the route and did double duty. It will probably be the first and last time I beat him!

The next week we had alot of fun watching John tear up our driveway.  It has needed to be replaced for a long time!   That would be Sam getting a little extra work in.  Kim said his hands really felt different after swinging the 20 lb. mallet.  He tried to break the pieces up as small as he could so that the truck could haul off more ( charged by the number of trips to the dump with the concrete).  The driveway is looking beautiful.
Fourth of July arrived with our annual breakfast and devotional.  We had French  ( French?) toast with blueberries and strawberries and whipped cream.  It was perfect weather!!!  Then we let off the hot air balloon a la Ken Beatty...the engineer in the group.  It became very windy and we made only one launch.  However, we decided that next year we would up the anty and each family would make a balloon so we could see whose would get theirs the farthest and who could make the coolest one.  Look out 2011!

After launching, we regrouped and hiked one of McKay's favorite hikes minus McKay in Hobble Creek.  There were many beaver dams along the stream and we found that the trail was missing because of water in several places.  We took a break at the turn back point and told some of our favorite "Bucket Wish List" items.   Then we ended our July 4th adventure with a Kranky Frank.  Hooray for holidays!  Hooray for traditions!  Hooray for good food and good family and friends.
