Wading through Mud

It has been almost a month since Bryce's accident. It is slow going here in Spanish Fork to finish things up and get my thank you's out. It seems a laborish process because I shed tears each time I start to write and reflect on how wonderful everyone has been. Then I have to get up and blow my nose and rethink my thoughts to complete what I was writing. I stopped to get a letter to refer to and found Bryce's weekly reports to his mission president. Here are some particularly tender one that lets us look into the mind of a struggling missionary:
2007 President Egan: Things have been really, really hard with Elder -------, or maybe I just don’t know how to handle some of the situation I’ve been placed in. Elder ------- is a good missionary. I really like him but just lots of different things have been difficult for me. I know you put us as companions through inspiration, but I’m just not sure how much longer I can last. We have had lot’s of really good experiences, but sometimes I feel like I’m going to burst. I’m not one who normally gets stressed out. I’m sorry this isn’t the typical letter to President. I felt like I should tell you. I’m going to keep doing the best I can. I love my area, the church is true, and I know that that’s all that matters.
April 2007…when we track we are actually getting into father led homes, and in most cases they reject us when we first approach their door but we don’t give up easy. When you realize that you are dealing with eternal brothers and sisters and eternal salvation you don’t want to let them say “not interested”. So we should see some really good things happening here in Walmer.
25 Aug. 2008 I enjoyed serving with Elder ----. He is a great missionary. Did you know that my last 6 comps have been for just 1 transfer and I have had 11 comps in my mission that have been for less than 2 transfers? Just random information for you that doesn’t really matter, I’m just surprised that I have had so many comps. I hope you have a great week.
If you haven't received a thank you from me you can see I get easily distracted. I was told it was still proper etiquette to have 6 months...it may be that long. Yikes! Wynette

Wow, I can't believe it's almost been a month . . . I'm still very impressed with you and President Christensen. While it's ok for you to be having a hard time, I've notice how strong you both are and I admire that very much :)

I don't see why you have to have "etiquette" about thank you's for this. I'm sure everyone is just more than happy to help with whatever they can.
Thinking of you all

It should be all of us writing thank yous to you for the insights into your wonderful son's life. Thank you for sharing him with us. We share your pain and continue to pray you'll feel the presence of the Comforter. You'll make it! Love you.

I wonder if Emily Post ever lost a son? Isn't she the author of all etiquette?
Go easy on yourself sis.
