Really.
Here are some of my neighbors and friends in our back yard for my birthday. We all loved sitting and visiting....and visiting...and eating.
The party continued on Friday night. Ilene worked at a drive in during her high school years and she learned to make the best onion rings in the world. We had a great time eating them along with Brent's great grilled chicken. Then I tried to have some competitions like Minute to Win It. I don't think some of the couples took it very seriously. I did.
However, we did get a lot of laughing in. My favorite was the kleenex boxes belted to the back with ping pong balls inside. You had to bounce around to try and get them out of the box first. Most of my pictures are blurry...I didn't put it on sports mode and I was laughing too hard.
This young man was a very good sport as he and Erica put on shower caps and had shaving cream sprayed on the top. The idea was to have each team toss cheese curls on their heads and see who got the most on before a minute was up. Dave thought he would find an easier way and just dumped all his curls on Stein's head. Boo.
There is nothing like getting together with good friends. We share a lot of history between all of us. They are the best.
We decided a good way to burn off the onion rings from the night before was to ride our bikes on the Jordan River trail from Thanksgiving Point to the Point of the mountain. There was a lot of going up and down and few people on the trail. We found out why when we finally got to the top and found an "End of Trail" sign. Whaaaaa. It was a great work out. A beautiful day. I love riding my bike.
We had a visit from Monty after the wonderful meeting from the Marriott on Missionary work on Sunday. He drove up from Phoenix after buying a car from Rexburg and his brother drove it down to Provo. It was sure good to visit and get caught up since we don't get to see him much. I still remember McKay and Monty in the back of the van the first time we met him and we all went canoeing at Utah Lake. That seems forever ago but we share lots of great memories.
Kim has been reading his missionary journals and letters home as we get ready to go to Hong Kong. He has corresponded with a missionary companion who pulled up pictures that Kim has never seen of himself in Hong Kong. We are getting pretty excited to see the place that Kim served in. I hope his Cantonese will come back too!
I love summer...this is from 2000 when we rented an RV and went to Nauvoo. What photogenic boys! |
