Crazy Snow, Pie Night and visitors

This was an interesting week.  We got a ton of snow...did a lot of shoveling.  We went up to the church to do most of our exercising since it was very cold or very smoggy.
It has been 4 years since Bryce has been gone.  We celebrated his life by doing things that make us happy.  We watched videos of him that make us smile.  I organized pictures.  My friend in Washington whose son died 6 years ago while hiking with his companions in South Africa says she still hasn't pulled out the box of his missionary things from under her bed to look at it since she got it.  We all deal with sorrow and grief differently.
Later in the week I  enjoyed a wonderful visit from a beautiful young woman that knew Bryce.  She always brings a bouquet of flowers.  I got a phone call from a neighbor letting me know she was thinking of me, an email from my BYU room mate and dear missionary friends and then my visiting teacher brought me these funky flowers.  ...it was all unexpected and ever so nice.
On Saturday, Kim and I didn't have anything planned...nothing we had to be to.  Most unusual.  There was one missionary to be released in the middle of the day so we were still grounded.  So we exercised in the basement together...that is always pretty funny.
Then we got the car inspected and read the Reader's Digest in the waiting room while we waited.  When was the last time you read the Reader's Digest?  Still great.  Then we did the shopping and then we came home to the most wonderful food.  I have been making soups and salads ....they are piling up in the frig like crazy...almost like they are multiplying.  Yum.
I worked on Edie's baby blankets and burp clothes while Kim worked on bills.  That reminded me of Brooke's baby clothes that I have been saving forever.  I dug them out of the furnace room where they have been stored waiting for this time and the tears wouldn't stop.  Has it really been 36 years.  They were so tiny and brought back a flood of memories.  So then I decided to make pie.
I don't like making pie crust.   Kim had had it with bills and so he made a chocolate chip pie and I used our squash and pumpkin to make pumpkin pie.  We had fun cooking together.

Then we played ping pong while the pies cooked.  Kim just barely won.  Then we played Nertz.  Kim just barely won.  Then he worked on his talk for today and I went back to working on the baby blanket.  Kim thought it was a weird Saturday.  I thought it was just fun and a great way to say...hello January!  Great 2013!  Ring in Wild Bells...or days...or thoughts....or Time.
