Hooray for Blendtecs!!
I think this will be an all time high for me with posting twice in one week!! I bought two 3lb bags of oranges last week because it was such a great deal, $1/bag. Well I guess I got what I paid for. The oranges aren't very sweet and don't have a lot of flavor to them. I was wondering what I was going to do with them all since I haven't been eating them very quickly. I remembered that I had put some grapefruit in the blendtec and kind of made a juice from them and it was good so I came up with my own recipe for orange julius. This is what I did:
Cut four small oranges up into quarters and peeled them
Added some powder non dairy creamer
A little milk
Around a tablespoon agave nectar
Vanilla
A tray of ice cubes
First I blended the oranges up using the whole juice setting and then I added the rest of the ingredients and used the ice cream setting.
What I ended up with was a nice frothy orange julius. It isn't quite as sweet and when you use the concentrate but this has got to have a lot less sugar in it. It tasted pretty good!
Another recipe that I use my blendtec for is Cottage Cheese and Oatmeal Pancakes. Hear me out. I know it doesn't sound very good but they are. You will just have to take my word for it. They are really healthy compared to your usual pancakes and they taste like good ol' pancakes. The recipe is as follows:
4 egg whites
1/2 c rolled oats
1/2 c cottage cheese
Blend ingredients up and cook like regular pancakes.
I have made them before with less egg whites and they turned out fine. This picture they are red because I added some sugar free raspberry syrup to it. You can add some sweetener to it if you prefer. I eat them with peanut butter and/or agave nectar instead of syrup for a low GI meal with plenty of protein in it.
Thanks Mom for the blendtec. I love it!!!
