McKay had Tuesday off and so we decided it was a great day for a hike. I had done this hike earlier in the summer and was not prepared for what I saw.
When I was little, my family moved from Utah to California. It took a couple of winters for me to forget that Christmas could not be Christmas without snow. Then I came back to Utah for college. I was so intimidated by the thought of snow. I had nightmares of being wrapped in a blanket fighting a blizzard to get to my classes.
Now being a veteran Utahan, I love the snow and especially the seasons so the hike was a wonderful gift. I had gone earlier in the month to see the colors and they were muted and not very bright but on this hike, we came upon bright red patches and splashes of orange. Some trees were mixed green and yellow. The leaves were gently falling down and in some places they covered the trail. Every time I turned a corner I would ah and ooh. It was magical and so fun to share with my son and his friend.
The down side was all the cow manure on the road...lots of cows were roaming the street and it took work to get my car squeaky clean again...well it was sorta.
The bottom line...I love, love, LOVE Fall!
