This past week has been a really really nice time at our house. After McKay left for Alaska, our house has been especially quiet. This past week we made several airport runs as Tyler and Natalie's family, McKay and then Kira flew in from Indiana, Alaska, and Tucson. We had hotel rooms reserved and went up to Salt Lake on Thurs. We took Tyler's family with McKay to the Tracy Aviary. McKay got lots of cool pictures of the birds. Then it was Brooke and Whit's reception at the Joseph Smith before the wedding.
It was wonderful to see so many friends and sad that we didn't get to visit for very long. Brooke had a Rick's room mate drive up from Nevada just to go to the reception. Brooke had lots of friends from all her life show up and it was a good reminder of how much Brooke has tried to organize and stay in contact with her friends.
We had a wonderful wedding brunch in the Joseph Smith the next morning where everyone stood up and introduced themselves and said something about or to the soon to be bride and groom.
It was wonderful to be in the Salt Lake Temple where 34 years ago, Kim and I were sealed by my Uncle Ben. It was especially fun to be the mother of the bride and I felt it a great honor to be there to help Brooke and experience close up the excitement of getting sealed in the temple to someone you love. If that makes sense. To me, it was a very sacred and memorable day.
After the wedding, we had pictures and after Jocelin was all done, then McKay kicked in again and we had a lot of fun taking some pretty silly pictures.
I am so happy to have had this time with my family. It was wonderful to be together and to be reminded how blessed we are to have such wonderful family and friends.
Happy life to Brooke and Whit. As they say in Sleeping Beauty: Health to the Princess. Long live the Princess. Yipee for families and those to come!
