Oh the Colors!

Saturday was a full day as we had the Temple to Temple 1/2, went to Cascade Springs to see the colors along with all of Utah, and got home just in enough time to go to the Stake Center to hear the Relief Society General Broadcast and find out that Homemaking that changed to Home, Family and Personal Enrichment meetings is now good ole Relief Society meetings. I can handle that. It was a great day but oohh can I feel my muscles.

Temple to Temple 1/2 Marathon

Brooke and Whit's idea of a Draper Temple to Orquirrh Temple 1/2 marathon actually worked. We were very grateful to the support team...that would be Brooke's friend, Holly, Linsey...that would be Whit's sister and Julie...that would be Whit's mum. Kim and I got a little lost at the under the Bangarter Hwy pass and did an extra long loop before finding our way across. It was a beautiful morning to head up to the Draper temple and see the view of Salt Lake valley. We ran with Brooke, Whit, Lamar, Greg, Hillary, and Alicia. The weather was quite perfect and the run to the Orquirrh temple seemed quite fitting as a test for those that didn't really prepare. I ran a 10k because I was supposed to help with water but never made it in time as I was the last person. Kim speeded up and made good time once he didn't have to make sure that I wouldn't get lost and ran an extra mile to the 1/2 because of the detour. It was a happy reunion at the end! The one for next year is already in the works and I think we might train a little harder!

Christmas is Coming...the goose is getting fat!

I have no clue who would want to do this but since this is my family blog I am sending out a request, a plea, a begging you to do this ( all Kim Christensens...that would be Brooke, Kira, McKay, and the TY/Nat family) and all others are warmly encouraged and invited to video tape a family, individual, duet or whatever of something Christmas i.e. a reading, a solo, an instrumental/ piano, etc., a music video, pictures of Christmas past, a drawing, a magic trick that is anything fun for Christmas. I want to put them together on a CD and send it to Dallin for Christmas. It would be something he would never ever guess of getting and would be a sweet reminder of all the people that love him and are so talented and want to share the Christmas spirit since Japan is not a Christian nation and doesn't celebrate per se the way the Christian world does. So it needs to be done before Thanksgiving. If we get enough, I will make CD's for everyone. What could be cooler? That would be the true giving of self that Christmas is famous for. Thank you and may the force be with you. Feed back about doing this is always appreciated!

Labor Day pains

When I titled this entry, I was thinking of the burning in my thighs. Brooke came to Spanish Fork for the Labor Day weekend since Whit was fishing with friends. We were glad for the company and decided to do some hiking that we had been wanting to do all summer. The weather was so great and the colors are just starting to change. We hiked to Silver Lake above Tibble Reservoir on Saturday. We were shocked to find little water in the reservoir and in the lake above it.
On Sunday, we were amused by Kim showing us how to twirl earphones.
On Monday, we got up early and went to Slate Canyon in Springville. We hiked what seemed like a very steep incline for a very long time. We saw no hikers until we were descending down to the Y in Provo Canyon. Then we saw lots of families, BYU students and just plain ole people hiking up to the Y. We were glad to be going down as it had warmed up. Then we cleaned up and did more honey extraction from the bees. It was a great way to celebrate Labor Day.

Dad's funny

Hello all! I was just through some old pictures tonight and found this gem. Thought maybe everyone would like to be reminded of what a fun dad we have! Brooke
( For those like Kimiko that don't get this video, I am trying to get Kim to guess what is on the cards in the Gesture container. He acts so innocent that I believe him when he says he hasn't seen the cards until he guesses before I even get to act out what it is for him to guess...it is like Charades...Kim is a subtle cheater by the way--from Wynette the commentator)
